Ron Finley, also known as Gangster Gardener, grew up in South Central Los Angeles and learned early on about the importance of growing your own food from his grandmother who used to tell him stories about how she would have to go out and hunt for rabbits to eat if the grown food wasn’t enough.
Why Should I Eat Organic Food?
Organic food is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. This means that it’s better for the environment, and it’s also generally healthier for you. It can reduce pesticide exposure in your diet by up to 80%. Organic food has also been shown to have higher levels of nutrients and antioxidant properties. So if you’re looking to improve your health and protect the environment, then eating organic is a great place to start! You’ll find plenty of benefits to choosing organic, but one of the best reasons is that it tastes better. The vegetables are sweeter because they don’t have any added chemicals! You’ll also save money when you eat organic because it costs less than conventional produce on average. And while we’re on the topic of cost, some people believe that buying local produce will save them money as well since they won’t be paying for transportation costs.
The Nitty Gritty of Growing in Different Climates
Did you know that there are different ways to grow vegetables depending on your climate? For example, in cooler climates, you might want to start your plants indoors and then move them outdoors once the weather warms up. But in warmer climates, you can probably just start your plants outdoors.
Secret Garden Hacks
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to grow your own food, there’s no better teacher than Ron Finley. The self-proclaimed gangster gardener is offering a MasterClass on gardening, and he promises to teach you everything you need to know to get started. I want people to learn how they can change their diets, exercise more and eat healthier while being in the sun more often, he says. I want people to have fun, because this is supposed to be enjoyable. That’s what life should be about! I also hope people start fighting for their right to public space as much as they fight for their right to bear arms. You don’t need permission from anybody to plant anything. You don’t need any special skills. All you need is some dirt and water.
Harvesting
As the weather gets colder, now is the time to start thinking about harvesting your garden. If you want to get the most out of your garden, you need to start preparing for harvest now. Here are a few tips to help you get started -harvest before heavy rains come; this way you can keep the rain from washing away nutrients and flavor -harvest during the morning hours, before it gets too hot; this will allow vegetables to last longer -pick when they’re ripe, not overripe or underripe; if they’re ready they’ll be at their peak ripeness -save seeds from any vegetables that have gone to seed and use them next year
