Before and After: A $2,200 Redo Turns a Cluttered Home Office into a Stylish Haven

A $2,200 Redo Turns a Cluttered Home Office into a Stylish Haven

Can’t we all use an extra hour in the day? We think so, which is why we created this before and after that cuts out unnecessary steps and streamlines the process of giving your workspace a new look. You’ll love how easy it is to create this modern-yet-warm, clean-yet-chic office space that you’ll actually want to spend time in!

IKEA Desk Risers

IKEA’s desk risers are the perfect way to add some extra storage space to your home office. Plus, they come in a variety of colors and styles to match any decor. I chose the white desk riser with two drawers for my home office makeover. It was easy to assemble (with clear instructions) and will last a long time. The best part is that it raised my desk surface up an additional 17 inches so that I could be more comfortable when sitting at it.

Rid of Wall Art

After years of hanging onto sentimental wall art, I finally decided it was time for an update. I painted over the old artwork with a fresh coat of white paint and hung new, modern artwork in its place. The difference is amazing! Not only does my office look more stylish, but it also feels more spacious and organized. Gone are all the mismatched piles on top of my desk; now there’s a streamlined area to tackle paperwork and get things done. My favorite part? When I walk in each morning, it’s so much easier to greet the day because everything is laid out before me-even if I’m feeling uninspired.

Wall Decals

Decorating with wall decals is an easy and inexpensive way to add color and interest to your walls. Wall decals are available in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes, so you can find the perfect design to match your home décor. Applying wall decals is a simple process that takes just minutes to complete. Simply peel the decal from the backing and stick it to the wall.

Cable Management

A well-designed home office should be both functional and stylish. That’s why this $2,200 redo is such a success! The before photo shows a cluttered space with cords running everywhere. But after some strategic furniture choices and some clever cable management, the room is transformed into a sleek and chic haven. There are two desk areas to allow for dual use of the space. Plus, there are two power strips in opposite corners of the room to ensure that all your gadgets stay charged and ready to go at all times.

The project even features an extra storage area on top of one of the desks so you can keep important files close at hand without cluttering up your work surface.

Diptyque Candles

We love Diptyque candles for their beautiful scents and elegant packaging. But what we really love is how they make our homes feel warm and inviting. After all, there’s nothing like coming home to a beautifully-scented space. The candle not only smells great but looks good too! And the best part? The price tag isn’t outrageous, making it an affordable luxury that you can add to your own space. Shop Diptyque here.

Area Rug

An area rug can really help to define a space, and in this case, it helped to create a stylish and modern office space. The light blue rug brought in some much-needed color and life to the room, while the geometric pattern added visual interest. Plus, the rug helped to ground the furniture and make the space feel more pulled together.

Seating from West Elm

If you work from home, having a stylish and functional home office is key to being productive. But it can be tough to create an office that strikes the perfect balance between style and function. To do so, Kelly Williams Brown (who was named one of Oprah’s SuperSoul 100) enlisted designer Sherry Amour for help.

To make this room look more like a professional space, they painted the walls with Benjamin Moore’s Linen White and added sleek desk furniture from West Elm. Next they sourced inexpensive art on Etsy and framed it in black frames to give them some color without breaking the bank.

Lamp from Restoration Hardware

Finding the perfect lamp for your home office can be tricky- you want something that is both stylish and functional. When I found this lamp from Restoration Hardware, I knew it was the one. It has a classic design that will never go out of style, and it provides the perfect amount of light for my needs. Plus, the price was right- at just $2,200, it was a fraction of the cost of other lamps I had been considering.

White Bins (from The Container Store – to store paper goods and office supplies in drawers/cabinets!)

If you’re anything like me, your home office is probably cluttered. And if you’re anything like me, you probably don’t have the time or money to redo it.
