The 8 Daily Tasks You Need To Do To Keep Your Home Clean and Organized

A big part of maintaining and cleaning your home involves daily tasks that can easily be overlooked and forgotten about if you’re not careful. The last thing you want to happen is to spend hours cleaning up your entire house only to find out there are some important things that you forgot to do. With this list of daily tasks, you can make sure that your home stays clean and organized at all times!

1) Sweep

Sweeping is one of the most basic and essential cleaning tasks there is. It should be done every day, especially in high-traffic areas, to prevent dirt and dust from building up. A good way to make sure you don’t forget is to sweep first thing in the morning before you start your day. This way, you can start with a clean slate and have one less thing to worry about later on.

2) Wipe down surfaces

One of the most important things you can do to keep your home clean is to wipe down surfaces regularly. This includes countertops, tables, chairs, door knobs, light switches, and anything else that gets touched often. Wiping down surfaces will help remove dirt, dust, and fingerprints. Plus, it only takes a few minutes to do! Make this one of your daily tasks and watch how much cleaner your home becomes. Take care of spills: Spills happen all the time in homes, especially with children around. So take care of them right away before they get a chance to stain or smell up your carpet or furniture. A little bit of cleaning solution and paper towels are all you need for this task!

 3) Dust

If you have hardwood floors, you should be dusting them every day. Use a damp mop or a microfiber cloth to trap the dust and prevent it from being redistributed around your home. Don’t forget to dust baseboards, window sills, ceiling fans, and any other surfaces that tend to collect dust.

4) Tackle dirty dishes

Wash all dirty dishes right away. Don’t let them pile up in the sink or on the counter. Not only is this unsightly, but it can attract bugs and make your kitchen smell bad. So as soon as you’re done using a dish, wash it off and put it in the dishwasher or hand-wash it in the sink. If you have to wait for anything like waiting for your food to cool before putting it in the fridge, cover the dish with plastic wrap until you get to it. Cover leftovers: If you have leftovers from dinner that will last two days, store them properly so they stay fresh longer than that.

5) Freshen the air with a new scent

Adding a new scent to your home can be a great way to freshen up the air and make it feel more inviting. Try diffusing essential oils, lighting scented candles, or spraying a light perfume around the room. You can also put fresh flowers in vases around the house to brighten up the space and add a touch of nature.

6) Check & empty your vacuum cleaner bag

If you have a bagged vacuum, make sure to check the bag regularly and empty it when it’s full. A full bag can make your vacuum less effective, so it’s important to keep on top of this. Plus, emptying the bag is a quick and easy task that only takes a few seconds.

7) Water the plants

One of the most important daily tasks you can do to maintain your home is to water your plants. Not only does this keep them healthy, but it also helps to prevent dust and dirt from building up on their leaves. Plus, it’s a great way to start your day by getting some fresh air and sunshine!

8) Load the dishwasher

If you have a dishwasher, load it up before you go to bed. That way, in the morning, all you have to do is start it. If you don’t have a dishwasher, then wash your dishes by hand after every meal. Either way, starting your day with clean dishes will make your kitchen feel more organized and put together. Tidy up your kids’ rooms: Whether they’re yours or not, kids’ rooms can get messy quickly. Make sure that their clothes are washed and put away, toys are picked up off the floor, books are sorted neatly on shelves or bookcases, desks are cleared of clutter, and dirty laundry is stowed away – basically, anything that needs to be done should be done now. And if they’re not doing a good job of picking up after themselves?
