A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I won the HGTV Dream Home 2022! We were shocked to be selected as winners because we didn’t think we had much of a chance since there were so many other amazing finalists. We recently got to tour the house before it was officially awarded to us and we were blown away by how incredible it really is, so we want to tell you all about it! It’s been incredible but also very overwhelming, so here are some tips on what not to do if you win the HGTV Dream Home!

When it was time to move in…

I was so excited to move into my new home, but it was also a little bit surreal. After all, it was the HGTV Dream Home! But everything went smoothly and soon enough, I was unpacking my boxes and making myself at home. And I knew this house was mine for life because of the mortgage-free deed they gave me as part of the prize package. It’s been amazing having such a beautiful place to call my own, and I still pinch myself every day when I walk in the door. Sometimes I forget that it’s not a dream! But there are days where I feel like things are moving so fast that I don’t know what to do with myself. Still, reality is better than any dream could ever be.

Touring our new home

I still can’t believe that I won the HGTV Dream Home. It feels like a dream come true – and it is! Our new home is beautiful and perfect for our family. We’re so excited to share it with all of our friends and family. Thank you, HGTV, for making our dreams come true! When we arrived at the HGTV Dream Home, we were greeted by a live band. It was amazing seeing the huge crowd cheering us on as we stepped out of our car and walked up to greet our host Bradon Klaiber! He was kind enough to give us an exclusive tour of the property before leading us inside. The kitchen had everything we could need – including every single appliance you could imagine – but my favorite room has got to be downstairs in the game room.

There are two pool tables, one ping pong table, a dart board, a foosball table, and even an arcade machine. And if we want to stay connected while playing games, there’s WiFi throughout the entire house. Speaking of staying connected, when we first pulled into the driveway, our whole family cried tears of joy (even mom!) because they couldn’t believe that this would now be their home. All the children couldn’t wait to show off their rooms to their friends and take them on tours around the house. Honestly, they’re not going to have time for anything else now because they’ll be too busy showing off their new living space.

Final thoughts on winning the HGTV Dream Home

I can’t believe it! I won the HGTV Dream Home. It still feels like a dream. Even though it’s a lot of work to keep up with the house, it’s so worth it. I’m so grateful for this opportunity. Every day I wake up and pinch myself to make sure it’s real. Sometimes when I walk around the house, I find myself giggling because it’s just so amazing. One thing that really helps me is sharing my experience on social media; people always seem really excited to hear about what we’re doing inside our new home.

I love seeing their comments and messages and following them on Instagram to see how they live in their own homes. For example, one commenter said she wished she had room for a greenhouse in her backyard like ours. Another person said she wanted to start using beeswax candles after seeing pictures of our candle-filled dining room table. And someone else commented that they loved hearing about our daughter’s bedroom transformation (she got rid of all the pink!).
