What happens when you take an interior designer, who has a taste for Europe and Old Hollywood glamour and pair her with one of the best San Diego home builders to create the perfect house? The result is the ultimate dream home, one that will make you feel like you’re in Paris or New York City. Of course, none of those cities have waterside views like this house in La Jolla does! It’s hard to believe that this gorgeous place was once nothing more than an empty lot that couldn’t be sold!
What is Euro-eclectic design?
Euro-eclectic design is a trend that has been growing in popularity over the past few years. It is a mix of traditional European design elements with a modern twist. This style is perfect for those who want the best of both worlds – the classic elegance of Europe combined with the contemporary feel of today. I was so excited to work on this project because it was my first time designing a Euro-eclectic home! The homeowners were very open to ideas and I loved that they were willing to experiment with different styles, textures, and colors. One of my favorite things about working on this project was how easy it was to find items to use throughout the house!
How does this style combine two or more styles into one look?
The interior designer of this San Diego home took cues from both French and Swedish design to create a space that is both elegant and cozy. The result is a warm and inviting room that feels like it could be right out of a European cottage. The walls are painted with a light blue color, while the furniture has an antique gold finish. It’s the perfect combination for those who are looking for their own little piece of Euro-chic in Southern California. In addition to the colors, the texture is important as well. The couch cushions have been replaced with velvet ones to give that hint of luxury that balances out the rustic wooden flooring.
Common elements of European interiors
European interior design is characterized by several common elements. These include a focus on natural materials, muted colors, and simple yet elegant furnishings. European style also tends to incorporate lots of texture and pattern into the design. And finally, European homes often have an old-world charm that is both cozy and inviting. Natural light is welcomed into rooms, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Lots of windows give views out onto streets or green spaces outside while still keeping inside cool and bright. It’s no wonder so many people think of Paris when they think about European Style!
Great places to buy pieces from this style
If you’re looking to add some European flair to your home, there are a few great places to start. Ikea is always a great go-to for reasonably priced furniture and home decor with a Scandinavian feel. H&M Home is another budget-friendly option that has slowly been expanding their home offerings in recent years. If you’re willing to spend a little more, Zara Home is a great place to find on-trend pieces with a European twist. Plus, they have an amazing variety of high-quality fabrics at reasonable prices. They have locations all over the world so it’s super easy to ship something back if you need it.
Color schemes used in this style
This home uses a variety of colors that all work together to create a cohesive look. The wall colors are mainly earth tones, with pops of brighter colors throughout. The furniture is a mix of wood tones and upholstered pieces in neutral colors. This allows the accessories and art to really stand out and be the focal point of each room. In the living room, they use a dark blue accent color against white walls. In the kitchen, they have used light yellows and blues for a more beachy feel. There is also an outdoor patio space for guests to enjoy as well as an outdoor shower!
