Your Desk’s Facing Says a Lot About You

Your Desk's Facing Says a Lot About You

Though you may not know it, where your desk faces says a lot about you. Is it facing the door? Is it facing the window? Does it face away from the room, or out of the window? Are there pictures on your desk of places you’ve visited, or does it have pictures of family members and friends? All of these things say something about who you are and how you work best when you’re at your desk. Here are some common ways people arrange their desks and what that says about them as professionals.

Work from Home

If you’re like most people, you probably have a desk at home that you use for work. But did you know that the way your desk is facing can say a lot about you? For example, if your desk faces the front door then it could mean that you love to see who’s coming in and out of your house or maybe you want to be able to greet visitors with a smile. On the other hand, if your desk faces away from the door then it might be because you don’t want any uninvited guests entering without warning or because there are some things on your desk that you’d rather not have seen by anyone who walks in without warning.

Work From A Coffee Shop

If you’re the type of person who enjoys working in a coffee shop, you’re probably someone who likes being around people. You’re also probably pretty outgoing and sociable. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it can mean that you have trouble focusing when there’s too much going on around you. If you find yourself getting distracted easily, try working at a table near the back of the coffee shop instead of right in the middle of all the action.

Work at an Office space

Do you like to face the door so you can see who’s coming and going? Or do you prefer to have your back to the door so you can focus on your work? Wherever you sit, your desk’s facing says a lot about how you want people to view you. Here are five types of desks and what they say about each person

What about you?

If you’re like most people, you probably don’t think twice about which way your desk faces. But did you know that the direction your desk is facing can actually say a lot about you? The four directions signify the flow of chi or energy, explains designer Daniela Calafati . And by aligning your space in accordance with these directions, you are more likely to feel energized and at peace. If you have a choice between two different desks—one that faces East and one that faces West—it’s important to determine which type of energy will be best for your workspace.

Where do you want to be in five years?

In five years, I see myself as a successful business owner. I will have a clear vision for my company and what I want to achieve. I will be able to work with my team to execute that vision and bring our products or services to market. We will have a solid understanding of our target market and how to reach them. And finally, we will be profitable and have a positive impact on our community.

How important is a location in your life right now?

For some people, location is everything. They need to be in the middle of the action in order to feel inspired and motivated. Others prefer peace and quiet, and so they seek out locations that offer that. These are typically places without too much activity or noise. Then there are those who want to take advantage of both: co-working spaces, for example, which offer that balance of both inspiration and peace and quiet. If you’re curious about your desk’s facing, it might say something about you!
